Drone Thermal Imaging

While we provide many of the same services as other drone photography service providers, we specialize in thermography (thermal imaging), a niche yet powerful application of drone technology for the roofing and energy industries.

Drone thermal imaging provides clients in the roofing, insurance, and photovoltaic industries with accurate data that can be difficult to capture with other methods. We pride ourselves on capturing and delivering accurate actionable infrared data that supports our clients’ needs.

Our Equipment

Leveraging the right tools is critical in the drone services industry.

DJI Mavic 3 Thermal (M3T)

The DJI M3T is a high-end thermal drone capable of delivering exceptional results in any aerial infrared application. We choose to use this drone for our aerial thermography services because it is the best combination of portability, flight time, flight range, and thermal sensor capability on the market.

HISO XL3 Searchlight

When it comes to thermal drone lost pet search, having a high-quality searchlight is paramount. The HISO XL3 searchlight mounts underneath the drone and can be controlled directly from the drone’s remote controller. This model is brighter than most other commonly used searchlights on the market, which makes it easier to positively identify missing animals out in the field.

Certifications and Insurance

We hold Part 107 and Level 1 UAS Thermography certifications, which means we are federally certified to fly drones commercially, and we have the training and expertise needed to provide quality thermal imaging that will provide you with clear actionable data on your property. In addition, we also carry full liability insurance of at least $500,000 for all drone operations we fly.

We pride ourselves on superior service, great communication, and timely completion of deliverables. When you choose to work with Self Aerial Imagery LLC, you can rest assured that you are choosing a thermal drone services provider who is enthusiastic about drone technology and thrives on providing a stellar customer experience.

Safety Precautions

Clients can rest assured that we implement and follow strict safety protocols to ensure each flight is conducted as safely as possible. Below are some of the ways we prioritize safety.

Familiarization with Applicable Rules and Regulations

First and foremost, we maintain a culture of safety by maintaining familiarization with 14 CFR Part 107, the primary regulation governing sUAS operation. We then strictly follow all applicable regulations.

Airspace Clearance

When operating in and around surface-based controlled airspace, we always obtain a LAANC authorization when required. This means that we obtain FAA authorization to fly our aircraft around critical airspace areas. We also have experience navigating the airspace authorization process for highly controlled areas.

Manned Aircraft Surveillance

Prior to and during each flight, we maintain strict manned aircraft surveillance in the surrounding area. We use resources like Flightradar24 and ADS-B Exchange for superior situational awareness to deconflict with manned aircraft. When operations warrant it, we utilize a Visual Observer for supplemental airspace surveillance.

Additionally, we have a background in manned aviation, so we are familiar with regional air traffic and low-altitude manned aircraft routes.

Preflight Area Walkaround

When we arrive on site, we always perform a thorough walkaround of the area. This allows us to get eyes on any obstacles, such as power lines, vehicles, and other structures.

Aircraft Obstacle Avoidance

We utilize the latest in drone technology to allow us to take advantage of built-in obstacle avoidance technology. Before each flight, we ensure our aircraft are set to “brake” when any nearby obstacles are detected by the onboard obstacle sensors. Additionally, we always ensure all autonomous flight operations and procedures account for nearby obstacles.

Safety Vests

Regardless of the time of day or location of the operation, we always wear safety vests for added visibility.

Aircraft Launch Pad

We always launch and recover our aircraft from a brightly colored launch pad. This serves as a prominent visual indicator of drone operations being conducted.
